Hair Loss Problem

Are you losing your hair? Are you one of the many people who are plagued by a hair loss problem? It is estimated that more than half of all men and women in the United States are suffering from a hair loss problem. However, this problem is more prevalent in men than in women. What are the causes of hair loss? Hair loss is caused by varied reasons some of which are personally inflected others are beyond the patient's control. Normally, hair loss is an undeniable consequence of aging. Heredity may play a role in hair loss. However, many experts still believe that about only 50% of the chances of inheritance is true. Tumors and skin outgrowths can also result to hair loss problem. Diseases like hypothyroidism, secondary syphilis, and seborrheic dermatitis have also been associated with hair loss. Exposure to chemicals during chemotherapy also causes hair loss. A person's diet and lifestyle including a high fat intake and sedentary life can often lead to early hair loss. Those who habitually braid or knot their hair are also prone to suffer early hair loss.

The hair loss problem has been around since the beginning of time and until now science has not yet found a real cure for this malady. This problem often results to low self esteem and places affected individuals into emotional distress. There are countless hair loss treatment products that have been coming out in the market most of which claim higher efficacy and hair re-growth rate. Those who are suffering from hair loss problem may easily believe these fallacious claims because of their desire to get rid of the problem. The American Hair Loss Association highly recommends purchasing hair loss treatment products which are only FDA approved. This is to minimize emotional distress resulting from purchasing such bogus products.

Early intervention is the key to a successful hair loss treatment. Experts suggest two clinically approved hair loss treatment which received approval from the Food and Drug Administration. These are Finasteride and Minoxidil. Finasteride is the generic name for name brands like Propecia and Proscar. Minoxidil on the other hand is the generic name for a name brand like Rogaine.

It has been reported that majority of men who use Propecia have found the treatment effective in treating their hair loss problem. The American Hair Loss Association recommends the use of Finasteride as the first line of defense against the early signs of hair loss.

Finally, a hair loss problem which stems from lifestyle, diet or hairstyle can be reversed by changes or avoidance of the causative factors. On the other hand, hair loss problems which are not caused by diseases, chemicals, and tumors may be helped by an early intervention with clinically approved treatments like Finasteride and Minoxidil.
